The Essay Contest is an annual event, designed to encourage research into the County’s history by participating students.
WRITING CONTEST: ELEMENTARY (3-5), MIDDLE SCHOOL, AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS ONLY
An Essay/Story – Minimum of 300 words. (no maximum)
Typed copies only on 8 1/2 X 11 paper, double-spaced using at least size 12 font. All pages must be numbered.
Put student’s social security number or PIEMS instead of name on all pages .
Essay must have a cover sheet.
Student must be passing in grading period prior to contest.
2016 Prompt: “Imagine Hollywood and the Wild Hog Cook-Off got mixed together! What would happen? Imagine if there were movie stars and famous singers… maybe even a big Hollywood movie premier at the cook-off!” Tell us the best story you can! Be creative! Who knows, maybe your story will one day be a big Hollywood movie!
Turn story in to Amanda Johnson at Burks Elementary if in grades 3-5, Elsa Flores at Newman Middle School if in grades 6-8, and to Nelda Garcia at Cotulla High School if in grades 9-12, no later than February 2, 2016. Nothing will be accepted after that time. Winners will be announced during our opening ceremonies at the Fair on Thursday!
